“Everyone knows the satisfying feeling after tidying up. Clarity on the outside also creates peace on the inside. In my art, I question our understanding of order. As individuals and as a society, we strive for a high degree of order. But the more complex, the more fragile this order — as we painfully discover in times of crisis. It almost seems as if chaos and order are only separated by a very fine line. It is precisely this line that I am interested in — also my work balances on the fine line between the two extremes. I want to show the hidden logic behind things that are anything but logical — and vice versa. Probably we appreciate order more, because it is clearly more exhausting to build something than to destroy it. And yet chaos is unavoidable. In art, I find my own way to give up control in order to playfully regain it. And learn to accept that any state of order is only a temporary phase. ”

ABOUT
Dave Großmann (*1989 in Jena) lives and works in Berlin. The focus of his artistic research is the theme of coincidence & chaos. His graphic works are based on organic structures with a random character, which he processes into balanced yet unpredictable compositions — from classical formats to large-scale murals.
Before devoting himself to the visual arts, he spent the first half of his life active as a dancer in the contemporary urban scene. For five years, he bundled his various experiences and interests as editor of "KWER – the magazine of abstraction." The magazine, which won several international awards, explored the concept of "abstraction" in all fields of art, science and philosophy.
As a freelance editor, he continues to regularly publish articles at the intersection of art, design and architecture.
Dave is not his nickname.
